- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat for 5–7 minutes until browned. Drain excess grease and season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine uncooked rice, French onion soup mix, and beef broth. Stir until well mixed.
- Add the cooked ground beef and sour cream to the rice mixture and stir until evenly combined.
- Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese over the top, cover with aluminum foil, and bake for 40 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Sprinkle French-fried onions on top and return to the oven for another 5 minutes.
