Preparation
- Combine warm water, sugar, and kosher salt in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let foam for 5 minutes.
- Add flour and melted butter to the yeast mixture. Mix until dough is smooth and elastic.
- Transfer dough to an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise for 50-55 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 450°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a pot, boil 10 cups of water, adding baking soda carefully.
- Shape the risen dough into pretzels and place them on lined sheets.
- Boil each pretzel in the baking soda water for 30 seconds.
- Brush pretzels with egg wash and sprinkle with pretzel salt.
- Bake pretzels for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown.
- Prepare the cheese sauce by melting butter, adding flour, then milk. Stir in cheeses and salsa.
