Preparation Steps
- Begin by boiling water in a kettle until it reaches a rolling boil. Place dried butterfly pea flowers in a heatproof container and pour the boiling water over them. Allow the flowers to steep for 5-7 minutes until the water transforms into a vibrant blue. Once steeped, strain the tea to remove the flowers and let it cool to room temperature.
- While the butterfly pea tea is still warm, add 1-2 teaspoons of honey or your preferred sweetener. Stir gently until fully dissolved.
- In a separate container, pour your preferred dairy or plant-based milk, filling it about halfway. Use a milk frother to froth the milk until it becomes light and airy.
- Take a tall glass and fill it with ice cubes. Pour the cooled sweetened butterfly pea tea over the ice, filling the glass about halfway. Slowly add the frothed milk on top of the tea.
- If you’d like to see some magic, add a splash of lemon juice to your layered drink.
- To finish, consider garnishing your drink with a few whole butterfly pea flowers for an elegant touch. Serve immediately.
