Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, melt 2-3 tablespoons of butter over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the diced yellow onion and sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant and translucent.
  4. Stir in the shredded cabbage and season lightly with sea salt. Cook for about 5-6 minutes until softened and lightly golden.
  5. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning.
  6. Stir in the frozen hash browns and 1½ cups of Irish cheddar. Mix thoroughly and smooth the top for even cooking.
  7. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from the oven, sprinkle remaining 1 cup of cheddar over the top, and return to bake for an additional 4-5 minutes.
  9. Let cool slightly and garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
