- Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread. Sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Place two slices of the buttered bread in a skillet, buttered side down. Spread marinara sauce on each, then add mozzarella, parmesan, and any toppings.
- Preheat the skillet over medium-low heat. Cook the sandwich for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Press down gently.
- Flip the sandwich and cook the other side for an additional 3-4 minutes until golden and the cheese melts.
- Remove from heat, let cool for a minute, slice, and optionally garnish with fresh basil. Serve with marinara for dipping.
