Ingredients

For the Meatballs
  • 1 lb Ground Beef (85/15) Consider combining with ground pork or removing sausage for a leaner option.
  • 0.5 lb Italian Sausage Can substitute with additional ground beef or turkey for a milder taste.
  • 2 large Eggs Acts as a binder to hold ingredients together.
  • 0.5 tsp Salt Enhances overall flavor; adjust to taste.
  • 0.5 tsp Black Pepper Can be substituted with white pepper for a different taste.
  • 0.5 tsp Onion Powder Optional fresh onion can be used instead.
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan Cheese Freshly grated offers better flavor.
For the Sauce
  • 14 oz Pizza Sauce Any marinara or homemade keto sauce can be used.
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste Thickens and intensifies the sauce.
For the Topping
  • 0.5 cup Mozzarella Cheese Freshly grated is recommended.
  • 0.25 cup Parmesan Cheese Freshly grated is preferred for the best taste.

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Skillet
  • Oven

Method

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, eggs, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. With your hands, take small portions of the meat mixture and roll them into meatballs about the size of a quarter.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add oil. Sear each side of the meatballs for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
  5. In the same pan, add the tomato paste, stirring briefly to combine with the leftover juices, then pour in the pizza sauce.
  6. Return the seared meatballs to the skillet, gently nestling them into the sauce.
  7. Top the meatballs with shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese, then bake for about 20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbling and golden.
