Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the lean ground beef and chopped yellow onion in a skillet over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic, tomato sauce, and Italian seasoning, and simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook the egg noodles according to package directions until al dente, then drain.
  5. Combine sour cream and cottage cheese in a bowl, then fold in the drained egg noodles and season.
  6. Layer half of the noodle mixture, then half of the meat sauce in the baking dish. Repeat the layers.
  7. Sprinkle grated cheddar cheese over the top layer of meat sauce.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
